Can you tell us how and why you started your blog?

I have always been passionate about fashion, and while it is my passion, it is also my career as I work as an Artistic Director for a ready-to-wear brand. It was a natural process for me to start my blog 7 years ago, since my friends regularly asked me for style advice, I thought why not share it with others as well.

My very first blog was called L’univers de Vanessa D. (which translates to The Universe of Vanessa D). At the beginning, I wouldn’t take photos of myself, I would only give advice on how to style looks and would post inspirational photos, because in reality I didn’t like seeing photos of myself (I still struggle with this at times). In order to grow as a person and to learn to love myself as I am, I started photographing my looks and I have to say it really has helped.

With time, we evolved L’univers de Vanessa D into Little Boho, because my influences were very boho (they still very much are), and as I continued to evolve and age, I decided in December 2018 to create a space more focused on visual creation rather than a traditional blog per se. I keep a part of the blog where I share my looks, my travel, my decor, my wishlists… but I also showcase visual creations that get me so excited and that I create for brands with which I work, always following the bohemian rock theme that resonates with me…

How would you describe your signature style?

As mentioned before, I would describe my style as bohemian rock. More bohemian in the summer, and more rock in the winter. I wouldn’t necessarily describe myself as an influencer in terms of my style because I don’t necessarily follow the trends, what I love the most is creating my own style. I definitely have a special affection for jewellery, I couldn’t imagine a look without it!

What are your favorite fabrics and shades to wear?

In the summer, I love linen. It is so comfortable to wear when it is hot outside, even though it does wrinkle easily. I love wearing light and raw/natural colours such as beige and sand… I pair them with jean shorts; a staple in my wardrobe! I also love ethnic prints, cashmere and florals (this is where my bohemian influences come out). Adding embroideries and lace symbolises femininity.

In the winter I wear black, grey, and khaki. I love oversized sweaters with skinny jeans and rock boots… without forgetting the perfect leather jacket, another staple in my wardrobe!

We see your boho style throughout your home too; which are your favorite rooms?

You can definitely see my boho influences in my interior decor as well: white, wood, and plants are really the basis of my decor. I also really love mixing styles in my decor, to include something unique that showcases my personality…

My favourite spots are: my room, my ‘cosy corner’, my dining room and the mix of styles between the wooden table and the transparent design chairs, it really speaks to my eclectic taste.

Can you tell us about your love for jewellery?

I have always loved jewellery. When I was a child, I never wanted to leave the house without jewellery. I would put a ring on every finger, then I added necklaces, bracelets, earrings; I’m sure I looked like a Christmas tree, but I didn’t care, I just loved it. I still love all of it today. I am always wearing lots of rings and statement necklaces in my daily look (not just for the photos!), I just hope that I don’t look like a Christmas tree today.

I’m a big fan of ethnic jewellery, especially deriving from Tuaregs and Native Americans, in silver and turquoise. I started wearing gold jewellery a year ago, something that I hadn’t played with before. Layering necklaces adds a feminine touch. In my opinion, you can wear a white-shirt, jeans, a jacket, a pair of boots, and spice the look up by adding jewellery.

To sum it up, once I start talking about jewellery it is hard to stop…

What can we expect to see next on your LIKEtoKNOW.it profile?

Bohemian fashion, lots of jewellery, home decor with some unique pieces, and just very simply ME!
