Living in a small apartment in Brooklyn, New York has made @teresalaucar a pro at decorating small spaces and making them look much larger! She shared her top five tips with us below:

  1. Multi-functional furniture. Try to find furniture that can serve multiple purposes. For example, I have a table in my bedroom that can serve as a vanity, nightstand, or desk.
  2. Declutter often. Clutter can make your already tiny space feel extra small. A couple of times a month walk around your space and find items you can get rid of.
  3. Think vertically. If you’re tight on space, consider installing shelves or other wall organizers. They don’t take up any additional room and they provide the extra storage you need.
  4. Decorate with bright colors. Paint and decorate with light colors to keep your space as bright and airy as possible.
Utilize mirrors. Mirrors can help make a room look much larger than it actually is. Try adding a floor length mirror to your room to give the illusion of more space.
