Can you tell us how you started Florals & Corals aka @lucyflorals?

Hi! I’m Lucy, I’m from Glasgow (Scotland) and I started my blog Florals & Corals whilst at university studying and working in politics. I’d always loved being creative and after years of collecting magazines and reading others blogs, I decided to start my own as a creative outlet. It started as more of an interior and lifestyle blog (and I actually kept it a secret for over a year) but lots of people said I should share my outfits, so I made it public and started focusing on my street style – and I haven’t stopped from there.

How would you describe your signature style?

I would say my signature style is minimal, always classic but with an edge. I like to look put-together but also a little unexpected. Think good basics and a statement piece.

You make layering look effortless; do you have any tips + tricks to perfect the ultimate combo?

I would say it’s all about the tones! Pick what tones you want to layer and stick to that palette. For example, I love to layer different grey tones together, a grey knit with a darker grey jacket, grey tone denim and then add in a white tee so it doesn’t look too blocky. Sticking to a colour palette will help your layering look effortless and easy.

What are your top 3 essential wardrobe items?

Maybe a little predictable but always a classic blazer, a pair of good fitting denim, and a white V-neck tee. These wardrobe basics will not only work perfectly together but also they transfer so easily to other outfits and for me; they are the foundations of a capsule wardrobe.

Do you have any tips + tricks for taking a daytime look into the evening?

I love my accessories so I’d say if you add a statement heel, and layer up on some jewellery; you can easily take a blazer and denim outfit combo from day to evening. Swap your basic tee for a silky cami or sleek blouse, and this will help compliment the layered jewellery and give the look some depth.
