Can you tell us about thankfifi and how your blog started?
@thankfifi was born from the encouragement of a good friend, Fi, in 2011, and has followed my life ever since – I call it a style menagerie because it includes fashion, interiors, travel… a little bit of everything!
What’s been the major source of inspo for your home?
Pinterest and Instagram are huge sources of inspiration for me and honestly I often end up bookmarking the minimal and industrial interiors… but having worked for around 6 years at Bluebellgray, a Scottish interiors brand FULL of color, I think it seeped into my soul! I try not to focus too much on a specific style and just go for colors, and pieces I really love; throw them together and hope that they work.
What’s been your favourite room to decorate?
I loved decorating our formal lounge because I had this vision for raw plaster walls and, even though most people I told my plans to were dubious, as soon as it was complete I just adored it. The walls were the base and everything else seemed to just fit in from there – the green velvet sofa, the dusty pink linen armchairs, the Lola Donoghue artwork and the vintage inspired accents. It is a proper grown up room and so impractical with two dogs and a toddler but I don’t care, I just feel so happy every time I step foot in there.
Your fashion and home styles merge so well; do you see recurring themes in your style?
I do but it’s definitely not intentional! I guess I just have this warm colour palette I am drawn towards, sometimes vintage bohemian, sometimes a bit more sleek and I suppose that applies itself to the way I dress myself and my home.
You’re expecting your second child, CONGRATULATIONS! Can we expect to see some nursery looks on your LIKEtoKNOW.it profile?
Thank you! Yes, nursery looks in the pipeline. I had so much fun decorating my son’s nursery first time around and now the new baby will move in there and Hunter will be moving to a toddler room – my poor father-in-law (who does most of my decorating) dreads the day I say ‘I have this idea…’.
What’s next for @thankfifi?
I’ll see where life takes me I suppose! I love to travel but in the short term I think I’ll be a little bit of a homebody with my family and I have grand plans for a painted tile patio and styling up our outdoor space for the summer.
